It’s like a faucet dripping. Unassuming, accidental, and completely maddening. Do your own thing.
The job market isn’t exactly great right now. Going through the front door—applying online, submitting resumes, cold-calling—doesn’t seem to make much sense anymore.
I’m lucky. I don’t have debt, I’ve got a basement to crash in, and I’ve got a good degree. I’m single, mostly broke, and itching to just do something. What have I got to lose?
Because everywhere I look—everything I hear—that little drip-drop is echoing through my head: do your own thing. Don’t wait for a job to arrive, don’t pretend that’s the only way forward. Make the hell out of the thing you want to do, and own it.
We’ll see.
